My name is Himmat Singh Shinhat. I am a queer multidisciplinary artist, psychedelic guide, and storyteller working at the intersections of art, healing, and transformation.
These aspects are not separate—they weave through my journey like travelling companions, supporting and informing my work. Art becomes a container for processing trauma and celebrating resilience. Healing emerges through creative expression and the courage to tell our stories. Transformation happens when we allow ourselves to be witnessed—both in our art and in our most vulnerable moments of growth.
I tell stories through words, music, and images. These narratives emerge from my journey through life as a queer artist navigating multiple contexts, my life as a South Asian immigrant in the West (England and Canada), my family's migration from post-Partition India, and my Punjabi Sikh heritage. Through my creative work, I explore how deeply personal stories can reveal universal truths and find resonance with others.
Opening up to my late father's silence has taught me that love speaks many languages. He was not particularly talkative; however, he was a prolific amateur photographer. Revisiting his photographs and looking at life, our family, and myself through his eyes reveals new perspectives on moments of struggle, wonder, and transcendent joy.
My artistic practice evolved into healing work quite naturally. The same presence, curiosity, and reverence I bring to creating art now guides my work with plant medicine and entheogens. Both require deep listening, holding space for what wants to emerge, and trusting in processes that unfold beyond our conscious control.
My work focuses on integration support for people who have had or are preparing for transformative experiences with plant medicine—whether through legal retreat contexts, clinical settings, or personal exploration.
Integration is where temporary insights become lasting transformation. Through reflective practices, creative expression, and building sustainable approaches to ongoing growth, integration work helps ensure that profound experiences lead to meaningful change in daily life.
I also provide educational resources about the full arc of psychedelic journeys, drawing from professional training with the Neuma Centre for Psychedelic Safety & Response in Kingston, Ontario, as well as personal experience with plant medicine and embodied healing practices.
For those interested in integration support or learning more about any phase of the psychedelic journey, please reach out for a private consultation.

My conversation with Sophie Fouron explored the 'chill' that can settle between parent and child when the child comes out as queer, my grief over my father's sudden death, and how artistic practice led to deeper insights about who he really was.
After leaving my work with the Public Service and integrating embodied practices, psychedelic medicine has drawn me out of the city and towards nature. Photography has become a form of meditation in itself.
